There is no middle ground when it comes to how people feel about snakes. It's either you love them, think they are cool and interesting, or just the mere thought of them makes you cringe, hide your eyes and run for cover.

Mary Ann Bonnell, the Senior Natural Resources Specialist for the City of Aurora Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department will present a workshop entitled "Sex, Lies and Rattlesnakes" which is rated PG-13.
Date: August 18, 2010 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The workshop will include:
- An interactive discussion of differing human attitudes toward Rattlesnakes from amazing, cool, disgusting and a public nuisance, dangerous.
- An outline of a mark and recapture program of 350 snakes and a radio telemetry tracking program over a 3 year period.
- A discussion of the sex lives of the average prairie rattlesnake.
- Interactive game of truth or lie regarding common myths and misconceptions about rattlesnakes.
Dennis Page and Animal Control Officer from the City of Lone Tree Police Deparment will talk about the differences between snakes that are common in the Lone Tree area, peoples attitudes about snakes and things to do to protect yourself, your property and your family.
Preston James, a resident of Lone Tree was the victim of a prairie rattlesnake bit this year. He will talk about his experience.
Presented by the Lone Tree Police Department Animal Control and Community Partnership Units.
