In it's second year in Parker CO, the Smokin' Brew BBQ is in full swing tonight after two great days of hot food and cold beer. There are cash prizes, trophies and ribbons scheduled to be decided on tomorrow, Sunday at 5:00 p.m. but only one of them allows the locals to vote on their choice.
Festival goers buy tickets in lots of ten and receive a wooden nickel. These wooden nickels are then given to the BBQ team that you think deserves the peoples choice award. The Douglas County Examiner and family over the last two days have sampled BBQ from every booth and although there were some very tasty barbeque to be consumed, the team that entertained both our taste buds and our funny bones were the The Golden Toad BBQ team.
These guys had boundless energy both at the grills and on their air guitar sized spatula's. They had more people surrounding their booth for the fun to be had than any other booth at the festival and they had some amazing Shrimp Bombs, grilled lobster and BBQ Chicken.
Not only do they grill a mean shrimp kabob, but a portion of Golden Toad's annual proceeds go towards wildlife and habitat conservation efforts.
Who will win the "Official" Peoples Choice award tomorrow night is still a mystery, but these guys won in our book. Enjoy the photo's in the slide show and see the fun on the video's.

By the way, the Golden Toad Competition BBQ Team will be competing in the 2010 Kick in the Butt BBQ Competition in Florence, CO on October 15 & 16. It's another KCBS sanctioned event and this will be our first event in 6 years in which we will be competing only... No vending this time... But stop by and say hello. Right now, our team is ranked 4th in Brisket and 6th in Pork in the State of Colorado on the Rocky Mountain BBQ Associations Shot Glass Standings... We hope to better our standings in all four categories after this event...
