John Jorgenson, a Town of Castle Rock Parks and Recreation employee got the idea of spearheading a ride like this last November on a late night bike ride. This time of year the weather is much warming and should be an interesting and enjoyable event for all.
“Pedal the Moon is special, because it will take place under a full moon, and happen mostly away from city lights,” Jorgensen said. “Just you, and your bike and a full moon.”
Saturday, Aug. 21
East Plum Creek Trail
between The Meadows neighborhood &
Downtown Castle Rock.
Anyone who can ride a bike is welcome, you must wear a helmet and have front headlight and blinking rear light. If you like the idea of decorating your bike with lights, prizes will be give for the best decorations. Think lights!
Adults $10 Children 12 & under $5. This fee includes a T-shirt and post ride snacks.
Those wishing to ride must register by Saturday, Aug. 14. Registration can be completed at CRgov.com/moon or at the Castle Rock Recreation Center.
"Riders should meet at 8:30 p.m. at the picnic pavilion at Butterfield Crossing Park, 3952 W. Butterfield Crossing Drive. The ride, which begins at 9 p.m., will advance south to Downtown’s Festival Park. From Festival Park, riders will be on their own in getting back to their vehicles or back home."
