The Town of Castle Rock Town Council will meet Tuesday July 20 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss and possibly decide which of three options they are going to pursue in regard to medical marijuana in Castle Rock.
State laws give Town Council three options for governing medical marijuana use in Castle Rock:
· Prohibit commercial medical marijuana centers in Town by ordinance
· Refer the question of prohibition to Castle Rock voters
· Allow, regulate and license the activity
The Town of Castle Rock currently has a moratorium on commercial medical marijuana activity in place until December 31 to allow the council time to decide this issue.
Registered patients may obtain medical marijuana by growing his or her own; from a primary caregiver; or from a medical marijuana center. Whether or not commercial medical marijuana centers are allowed or prohibited, municipalities may not prohibit patients from growing their own marijuana or a caregiver from providing marijuana to up to five patients.
The Council meeting will be held at the Council Chambers at Town Hall, 100 N. Wilcox St., Castle Rock CO.

Please keep us posted on how the meeting goes.
Curious is see how the meeting goes on this subject.
I don't think the public should be allowed to grow their own marijuana...this could only lead to more problems down the road...if someone really needs this for medical reason...what I am not sure would be the condition...it should be like all medications...prescription..then it will be safer and have more specific regulators.
I certainly hope the issues gets put before the citizens of Castle Rock, and they can engage in a civil, rational discussion of the issue.
@Winona...Marijuana can be used to manage pain, nausea or other side effects from various conditions. In places where it is legal, marijuana can be used for, among other things, cancer, glaucoma, and AIDS.
