The new millennium brings with it a whole new set of social and economic challenges. Not only are college professors across the land recommending students buy their textbooks “used” to save some money, they also have to share a variety of methods to keep those students safe from harm. These days, when we open a package that contains an unexpected white powder, we should be thinking “anthrax” and immediately following a set of safety and precaution procedures. But this week, Sophia Stockton, a Junior college student attending MidAmerica Nazarene University in Kansas, opened up a package containing a used textbook she purchased from amazon.com. Not only did the textbook arrive in good shape, but the book also contained a bag of cocaine estimated at $400.
To Ms. Stockton’s credit, she was afraid that the bag contained anthrax. According to wptv.com:
… she took it to the Gardner Police Department the following day. “I told them white powder was in my terrorism textbook and so I put it on the table and they’re like, ‘oh, okay,’ And so he went back and tested it,” Stockton recalls.
“He comes back and says, ‘you didn’t happen to order some cocaine with your textbook, did you?’
And I was like, no!”
The Gardner Police are currently investigating the possible source of the coke.
