Has there ever been a time when one has as an idea planned, but when fully implemented it turns out to be something totally different? In the doll art world, there is the presence of a preconceived vision of what kind of doll to make and what the outfit shall be. But after fabrics are cut, threads are strung and patterns are completed, a new direction of sorts may take place. This is what happened with the designing of the doll pictured in this featured photo.
The beginning of this project, started with the doll's hair. The hair of the doll had to be re-done. An unfortunate green tinge developed on the original tresses and thus had to be removed entirely. But it was replaced with soft amber curls, of which was the starting point of designing the doll's outfit.

The original idea was to create an outfit that would follow the tween trend; a skirt with ruffles at the bottom of the hem, a cotton T, a jean jacket, bobby socks and a colorful pair of maryjanes. That was the idea. What Happened!
The ruffles at the hem of the skirt were to be developed through the making of a petty coat. The petty coat, made from a tulle material would be worn under skirt. The tulle material was then layered twice to give the petty coat vastness. In stepping back in viewing the garment, it was discovered that the petty coat, looked more like fairy dress and was beautiful on its own. It was then that the outfit change. Adding a lacey top which would be attached to the tulle skirt, plus adding a matching headpiece, made this would-be tween trend doll, into a fine wedding flower girl.
