Dog lost for six months reunited with family. Where the heck was Buck?

Buck went missing last August from his family. While traveling in Montana, the Halter family made a rest stop and a "train whistle spooked Buck and he took off." The Halters stayed in the area a few days and searched for Buck, even putting up posters. The Halters returned to their home in Seattle without their beloved pet.

Then a Montana family called a few days ago to say they had found Buck.

And only Buck knows the story of his adventure.

What a happy reunion. One of my favorite books when I was growing up was "The Incredible Journey." I still read it from time to time and this story reminds me of that book. I wonder how the dog survived in such frigid temperatures?

Well, he probably said, "Tt's good to be home!"

I always enjoy happy endings, and this heartwarming story is no exception. Always a good ending when one's pet survives and is reunited with its owner.

Thanks for the really nice article about Buck!

Great story. Everyone should have contact information on the dog's collar or an embedded chip so a vet can identify the lost dog. And it's nice that Buck met up with some of the many wonderful dog people out there.

I just found my dog after six days of searching. He was stolen and dumped in a Canyon. Even though a chip would not have helped us in our situation, we are putting one in both of our dogs just to be sure the are better protected. We think that angels must watch over these dear family members who are so vulnerable...our dog survived two storms as he took six days coming over a mountain to find home. We too are grateful for the good individual who responded to our poster when King emerged into civilization. Those flyers and posters we were advised to post by Best Friends Pet Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah really work!
