Big Lake, MO - A German shepherd K-9 with the Missouri State Highway Patrol has died in the line of duty.
The body of patrol K-9 Reed, a 5 year veteran with the patrol, was recovered on Tuesday evening from the swollen Missouri river.
The German shepherd had been working the area with his handler, Trooper Frederick F. Guthrie Jr., when the pair disappeared.
K-9 Reed's body was discovered in swift moving waters near Trooper Guthrie's parked truck and boat.
The search for Reed's handler continues - sadly, those searching for Trooper Guthrie have changed their efforts from search and rescue to one of recovery.
Rest in Peace K-9 Reed.
