Here are a few dog-related things coming up this week in the Kansas City metro. If you're looking for Halloween-themed activities, check out the Halloween guide to local dog events.
KCMO residents can have their say on Wednesday, Oct. 28 about a proposed off-leash dog area at South Oak Park. The public meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Waldo Library (201 E. 75th St.).
And the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City (5445 Parallel Pkwy, KCK) welcomes HSGKC alumni to the shelter's annual pet reunion and open house on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 1-4 p.m. The event is free to attend. Activities include a pet costume contest, shelter tours and treats for people and pets. You can also get your dog's picture taken; if you bring a dog toy, your photo is free.
Today's "KC Pooch Pics" features some of the costumed canines at Saturday's Three Dog Bakery Growl-o-ween event at the Country Club Plaza. After several costume contests, dog owners took their pets trick-or-treating at about 30 Plaza businesses. Growl-o-ween was a fundraiser for the Gracie Foundation, which works with a number of organizations to provide help for dogs in emergency situations (such as those suffering from abuse or neglect).
