As part of the 2010 ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program, the Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) in Houston, TX, has received a grant to sponsor the work of a summer intern for eight weeks this summer. The CAP intern will learn about working at an animal charity, and help Houston’s homeless dogs at the same time.

POSTIION DETAILS
The summer intern will perform a variety of administrative tasks, and work with the Director of Administrative Services and Human Resources, the Adult Volunteer Coordinator, and the Director of Outreach Services. The CAP intern will also participate in a variety of volunteer, educational, and fundraising events.

STUDENT REQUIREMENTS
• Must be a currently enrolled, full-time, undergraduate student who will return to college as a full-time sophomore, junior or senior student. Full-time enrollment is defined as 12 or more credits in one semester.
• Must provide written enrollment verification from the college registrar’s office confirming the student’s enrollment status.
• Must attend an orientation, several seminars and final ceremony conducted by Volunteer Houston during the 8 week internship.
• Begin June 14, 2010 and end on August 6, 2010
• Work 5 days a week, 7 hours a day. (May be some weekend days)
• Salary will be discussed at the interview.

ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program
The program enables 65 full-time college students to gain hands-on experience and knowledge of the non-profit sector, while lending a helping hand to the agencies during the busy summer months. The goal of the ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program to promote the importance of community service and cultivate future community leaders.

Since the program began in 1971 in New York City, ExxonMobil has provided more than $8.4 million to support almost 4,000 community summer job internships in ten states, including Alabama, Alaska, California, Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia and Wyoming, and internationally in Angola. In the Houston program alone, ExxonMobil has provided more than $1.3 million placing more than 500 college students in summer internships.

    Great idea. I don't know if you can do it there, but here in Oregon, they often allow kids/families to come in just to play with and brush the animals. Good for the animals and the kids.
