Freekibble Pushes for National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day

April 30th is the date that Freekibble.com is trying to make National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day. They are partnering with Tails Magazine in an effort to achieve 100,000 emails sent to the President requesting a Presidential Proclamation for a National Adopt a Shelter Pet day. You can help in this effort until the deadline, which is September 30th. Every day, you can email a letter once a day.

So far Freekibble has sent 59,216 emails and letters! Join in and spread the word to your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and whoever else you know about adopting a shelter pet.

Mimi Ausland is the mastermind behind Freekibble. She was volunteering at her local animal shelter at the young age of nine when the idea came to her. It was during her volunteering that she discovered that animal shelters did not have enough food to feed all the animals.

Mimi didn't want any animal to go hungry so with the help of Castor and Pullox and Canidae Dog Food has come on board to help feed shelter dogs and cats at 14 animal shelters in America. As of today, there have been over 254 million pieces of food to cats, over 389 million pieces of food to dogs and the total meals that Mimi has provided are 3,593,760 to hungry shelter dogs and cats.

How has Mimi done this? By visiting Mimi's website, she posts a dog trivia question and a cat trivia question daily. For every question answered (it doesn't matter if you answer the question correctly) 10 pieces of dry kibble is donated.
