Ahhh, Twitter…one of the greatest inventions of 2006! It all began with Jack Dorsey who wanted to keep up with his friends with simple concise communication. Jack explored the idea and in August of 2006 Twitter went public. Since last year Twitter has been my constant friend because it keeps dialogue to a minimum. You know that friend who calls you to ramble on and on about…well…nothing really? Yeah- that friend is NOTHING like Twitter. On the website you have 140 characters to get whatever you have to say out there. You can accept messages from SMS, web, mobile web, or I-messages.
Finding Other Dog Lovers is Just a Twitter Away
The best thing about Twitter is that you can do a quick search to find like-minded people. Teachers, writers, photographers, celebrities, Susan Boyle lovers, all are tweeting away and just waiting to have another follower. Oh yeah—that’s the other thing. On Twitter you get to follow and be followed. It’s great fun to see how many people you can woo in 140-words or less.
I, of course, did a search for dog lovers and was not disappointed. I quickly found a long list of people who love dogs and people who are promoting their dog-related business and resources. It’s a great way to ask for free advice on feeding, training, whelping, breeding and caring for a dog. Here are some of the best Twitter-ites I’ve found so far:
· @ EcoPup: Boasts “Eco-friendly clothing and accessories for your pawsitively posh pets!” Check out www.ecopupdogclothing.com/
· @ Dogfessions: It’s “Nikki Moustaki, author, TV/Radio personality, dog trainer, pet industry expert.” She also runs www.dogfessions.com and www.dogvice.com.
· @Petigreeworld: On Twitter to “educate, inspire and create a world of entertainment for you, your lifestyle and your trusted pet.” Can be found at www.petigreeworld.com
· @Bluebeagle2: Just a cute beagle who checks in.
· @TheHusky: The “life and times of Misty The Siberian Husky.”
· @TheDogExpert: Sheryl Matthys, “The Dog Expert, Dog Trainer, CEO of www.leashesandlovers.com.” Lots of fun tips on behavior.
· @dogdiaries: It’s a “social community for dog lovers.” Check them out at http://www.dogdiaries.com.au.
· @sylviedog: Chicagoan Sylvie whose hobbies include “sleeping, eating cookies and yelling at Mugsy.” www.sylviedog.blogspot.com.
· @iPuppyCam: all about puppies!! Gotta love it! www.ipuppycam.com.
· @Woofcp. Pet gifts. www.bigpawdesigns.com.
Like I said, these are my favorite Twitters. There are a bunch more though who I’ll be mentioning in upcoming weeks. Each one has something I love to check up on…even if it’s just an adorable picture of Sylvie sleeping on her doggie bed. What can I say? I really REALLY like dogs. So if you get a chance, give these people a look and see what they can do for you and your dog. Twitter them- I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to tweet back!

Thanks Anya for mentioning my Twitter @TheDogExpert
Twitter has been great for relationships and business. It's not only been fun but I've met so many dog lovers and been able to share and gain business tips.
Whatever your business is - this is a fun and effective way to let others know about your site. Mine is part of my twitter where people learn how to find out more at LeashesandLovers.com
Twitter has been a great way for me as TheDogExpert to post when I do a blog on my site - to let others know to go read it. Twitter helps branch and announce what I'm doing to help others know how and where to get involved.
Thank you Anya for also mentioning @DogDiaries, we have an active blog and social community but found a whole collection of new friends on twitter.
Its great to interact with other people when we have the chance.
You forgot to mention the Dog Whisperer: @cesarmillan
