When you think of someone who owns their own airplane, perhaps you think of someone who's rich, self-absorbed and into only the finer things in life: exotic vacations, exotic cars and exotic pets. Think again. Most members of Pilots N Paws are much more like you than you think: they have regular jobs, ordinary lives and just happen to love flying. They also love dogs, and volunteer their time, airplane and aviation fuel to help homeless dogs start new lives by flying them to areas of the country where they're likely to be adopted.
Check out this CBS-Atlanta story on the work they do, and consider making a donation to the cause. Coming up September 12 through the 20th, Pilots N Paws aims to save 5,000 shelter animals in one week, and donations are needed now to make that effort a success.

Any look into General aviation will reveal that pilots and aircraft owners are, in 90% of cases, the opposite of the "rich, self-absorbed" stereotype people have labeled us with. There are many organizations beyond Pilots N' Paws that pilots and owners have created to give back to the community; Angel Flights has saved thousands of lives for example.
Oh my, what a wonderful group. Thanks for this report, Sandy.
