The 2010 Great New York State Fair is in town through Labor Day. With the fair come some unique shopping opportunities for Syracuse dog owners. Syracuse Dog Training is spending this week at the fair, exploring dog-related finds in equipment, treats and entertainment.

One vendor who is new to this year's NY state fair is Annie's Pooch Pops of Columbia, NJ. The company bakes gourmet treats for dogs that include fresh biscuits, biscuit-wrapped bones, and cheese chews. According to their website, the treats they sell include "100% human grade ingredients. We feel strongly that our dogs should not eat anything that we wouldn't consume ourselves. Please feel confident, while placing your order, that your pets are getting the finest treats available anywhere." Treats for sale include:

Annie's Pooch Pops recommends the following for storage of their treats:

Annie's treats are preserved naturally. They will usually last 30 days or longer if they are stored properly. Please do not seal them in plastic baggies! We recommend leaving them in their original wax bag or freezing if you will have them longer than 30 days. They can be frozen in the bag they come in and will taste wonderful when you need them again.

Mutkkins are a fresh beef product. We highly recommend using within 3-4 days of receiving the treat. We usually freeze them solid then give them to our own dogs. This both extends the life of the treat (doubles or triples chewing pleasure) and preserves the treat at the same time.

Annie's Pooch Pops has a booth in the Horticulture Building at the entrance near the Empire Room. NY State Fair buildings are open daily from 10am to 10pm. On Labor Day, buildings open at 10am and close at 9pm.
