Dog Run Dog Race in Salt Lake City, Utah will be a 5K/10K loop starting on the University of Utah Campus, traveling onto the beautiful avenues of Salt Lake City, and then finishing back on Campus. It will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday October 3rd, 2009. Map
Entry Guidelines
1. Only one dog and one person will be officially timed per entry.
2. Time is calculated when team touches finish line.
3. Dog & Person must be tethered to each other. (Tether must be the same length at the start and finish of the race, but variable lengths are acceptable during the run.)
4. Dogs must be at least a year old to run competitively. (If younger please walk, jog, or carry your dog.)
5. Please remember that people are responsible for scooping up poop.
How To Run With Your Dog
- Start by taking your dog on long walks at least half a mile every other day.
- After a week or so introduce brief periods of running.
- Increase the running slowly until your routine is completely running.
- Talk longer runs, increase by 10 minutes every week.
- If your dog slows down, then slow down as well.
Keep In Mind
* Make running FUN for your dog! Praise them and give them a treat after.
* Try to run on a softer surface such as grass or dirt trails.
* Concrete and asphalt can be harmful for your dogs paws.
* Always check paws before and after running for any cuts or scraps.
* Dogs sweat differently than humans do. They sweat by panting and through their paws.
* Make sure to stop for water breaks, and even let your dog run through the sprinklers.
* Give your dog a day in between long runs.
