Where do you go when no one wants you and you find yourself locked up in an animal shelter? Well, if you are a Boxer, hopefully you will find yourself in the loving arms of Rockin "P" Rescue.
This devoted rescue saved the lives of 103 Boxers so far in 2009. Almost all of these dogs have been placed in loving, good homes. It is hard to imagine that over one hundred of these beautiful dogs would have needlessly died if not for the 25 volunteers that operate Rockin "P" Rescue.
Rockin "P" Rescue states that they "try to help the dogs in the shelters that are not adoptable because of health issues that will otherwise be put to sleep." This can be a very expensive endeavor for the rescue. The treatment of heartworms, a common health problem of dogs found in shelters, cost over $500. Financial donations, along with fosters and qualified adoptive families are always needed.
The unconditional love of rescue dogs has kept this group helping dogs for the past 11 years. The non-profit, entirely volunteer organization says that "all of us working together to accomplish this, starting with the shelter that allows us to help the boxer in their shelter, to the foster home that helps the dog get ready for it’s new home and then the adoptive parents that open their homes and hearts to a rescue boxer" makes rescuing a rewarding experience for all involved.
