What are your New Year's resolutions?
Lose weight, start working out, eat less burgers and more veggies. Oh, yeah, and get a divorce!
Divorce is right up there with losing weight when it comes to New Year's resolution lists.
Celebrity and divorce lawyer Gloria Allred told the New York Post back in 2006, ""In January, people are returning gifts and recycling husbands...all year the fault lines are showing underneath the surface and in January it explodes."
Because a new year inspires reflection and reevaluation, divorce lawyers prepare for a spike in calls at the beginning of the new year.
People evidently file for divorce in January for the same reasons they do the rest of the year -- infidelity. Apparently, holiday time is when many extramarital affairs are discovered.
