How early do you get up the day after Thanksgiving to hit the stores? If you're like me, maybe the answer is never or do I have to, even though that means passing up a sale. But if you want to avoid the lines, the mad rush of people and stock disappearing before your very eyes, you can get a head start on all the Black Friday action before the turkey lands on the table. Or at least learn a plan of attack for Friday if you're shopping but not for plasma TVs, video games, toys and all those hot items that create the rush at Walmart, Best Buy and the like.
Fleet Feet Sports. Want to start shopping for the holidays and know that your--or a friend or family member's--workout wardrobe could use some updating? Or have you been putting off purchasing new running shoes? Fleet Feet's Thanksgiving Sale started on Saturday, November 21, to give you early shopping options. Check out the Piper's Alley or Lincoln Square locations for savings on shoes, accessories, apparel--including clothing by Brooks and Mizuno. When it comes to shoes, you'll find markdowns on Asics 2140, Brooks Adrenaline 9, Mizuno Elixir 4, Mizuno Nirvana 5, Nike Zoom Elite, Puma Velosis, Puma Vectana and some styles of Under Armour. Also perfect to stock up before a Thursday Turkey Trot.
Running Away Multisport. Check out the tagged items in the store that are staff recommendations. They're runners and triathletes too and always sampling the latest goods, and can steer you clear of making a purchasing mistake. You find some all-time favorites among some goodies that the staff is currently crazy about. Stil not sure about what type of gift your athlete is after? Get them a gift card so they can do the shopping later.
REI. If you want to start shopping for those outdoor needs now, online at rei.com is the way to go. Their winter sale runs until Monday, November 30 and you can save up to 30 percent on items. But if you do want to brave the Black Friday craziness, head to REI's Lincoln Park location on November 27 to get your shop on. You may have to fight through people but at least if you're early you can be rewarded for passing up sleep: the first 300 people through the door receive a gift card valued between $5 and $100, plus an REI reusable shopping bag. If you're lucky that could mean not having to shell out a dime for a gift, or a splurge of your own.
These are just a few spots offering items for the athlete on your list, or yourself, this holiday season. If you know of any other details, definitely share as I know I could use some more holiday shopping options.
