Wichitans traveled down the road to the Intrust Bank Arena this Thursday and Friday to see some of their favorite Disney Princesses. Feld Entertainment presents, “Disney Live! Three Classic Fairytales”. Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Minnie start the show by reading the beginning to the Snow White fairytale. An abbreviated story of Snow White is told with singing and dancing mixed in with a few scary moments of the evil Queen creating some magic. Next, Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy come back out to chat with the audience about the story and introduce the second story, Cinderella. This story comes complete with Drizella and Anastasia as the two evil step sisters in a comical comedy of blunders as they try to outdo one another. Right after the clock strikes midnight at the ball there is a twenty minute intermission. Following intermission, the story begins again and Cinderella dances with her Prince Charming. Again Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy come back out as Mickey presents Minnie with a rose. Magic happens and the storybook lights up again. The story of Belle begins. Belle’s story has several scene changes and musical numbers that include Beast, Belle, Mrs. Potts, Cogsworth and Lumiere. The show ends with all of the princesses and princes coming back to stage in fancy ball attire followed by Donald and Goofy. Mickey and Minnie end the show on center stage together.
The music is wonderful and the show is well choreographed. The costumes are detailed and elaborate. The telling of the stories is unique. The interaction between Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy and the audience keeps the kids involved in the stories. If you missed the show in Wichita, there will be a performance in Topeka, Kansas on February 4, 2012. Tickets range from $25 to $55.
