On Sept. 2, 2010, Darrell Fry, Sports Media Director, Walt Disney World, announced on the Disney Parks Blog that Jeff Galloway is the official training consultant for the renamed runDisney races at the Disney theme parks. Galloway will offer training tips and programs for runners who participate in any of the endurance running series.
Galloway, well known as a proponent of Galloway RUN-WALK-RUN™ method, incorporates walking into runners’ training programs and races. His run-walk method, which was somewhat controversial when first introduced, aims to help runners run injury-free. Many who use the method report faster finishing times. Galloway’s methods and training tips for endurance events – half-marathons and marathons – will be available to athletes through online runDisney videos and programs. Galloway will also make appearances at all runDisney events.
A lifelong athlete and inspirational speaker, Galloway is a former American Olympian who has helped first-time and experience runners train for races of all distances. Galloway writes a monthly column for Runner’s World and is the author of, among other titles, Galloway's Book on Running and Marathon: You Can Do It! He also operates running workshops around the country and serves as one of the directors for the Peachtree Road Race, one of the largest and most well-organized 10K races in the country.
The runDisney series is the new branding Disney’s running events that occur throughout the year at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. As part of the rebranding, Disney has started a runDisney Facebook page.
The highlight of the runDisney series is the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, presented by CIGNA, which takes place every January. Other events include Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend, a women-centered event presented by Lady Food Locker (men may participate); Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend, Disney’s only nighttime half-marathon with its inaugural race this October; and Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend, which takes place over Labor Day Weekend.

Great article!
This will be such a huge event. So many people running, marathons draw out those who want to help, belong, exercise and win. Great article.
