Durham,NC Farmer's Market, Saturday August 29, 2009
Eating food that is vine ripened and locally grown increases its nutritional value. When you buy local, you support access to fresh, organic produce. You also protect yourself from inflammatory and degenerative disease by consuming food rich with phytochemicals and vitamins with their cofactors. You enrich your diet with fiber needed to properly digest food and absorb the nutrients while eliminating waste effectively.
Many local communities have Farmer's Markets. The list associated with this article will have links to their websites and the websites of vendors I interviewed on this day.
My intent will be to bring you a series of articles about the markets and profiles of the vendors. Today I talked to Four Leaf Farms, a volunteer promoter for a new co-op grocery Durham Central Market, The manager of the Durham Farmer's Market, Dolly of Dolly Mama Chocolate, and the co-owner of Stoney Mountain Farm.
If you live in the area, I encourage you to get out on Wednesday or Saturday and take advantage of the produce, free range eggs, free range chicken, Buffalo and grass fed beef, goat cheese and many other items of interest or use in a healthy disease free lifestyle.
