According to a November 2, 2009 report by Reuters, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) received 78 reports of problems with kidney function in patients using Byetta from April 2005 through October 2008.

The FDA is warning both physicians and patients to be aware of possible kidney function problems with the type 2 diabetes drug, Byetta.

Even though the affected population was small, the alert stands.

On Friday, October 30, 2009, Byetta was approved by the FDA as a stand-alone treatment for type 2 diabetes. It was formerly approved to be taken in combination with other diabeteds medications.

Instead of putting a band-aid on the diabetes problem, patients should address the cause with proper diet and regular exercise. Why put a band-aid and cream on a splinter when really removing the splinter is much more sensible?

Great until the last comment. People have such easy answers some time. Sometimes the splinter is buried deep and the only course is having some one take it out for you. It requires breaking several layers of skin surrounding the entry point, the intrusion of tweezers into the exposed wound and time to heal.

It is an easy answer just to say, why not eat right and exercise. And if life were perfect it would be just as easy TO eat right and exercise, but in a perfect world, there would not be overweight or diabetes, would there???

    With much respect
