The Mission Continues serves wounded veterans from Maine to Hawaii. The Mission Continues is a non-profit organization established in 2007 by Eric Greitens, a wounded veteran, and Kenneth Harbaugh. Their goal is to build on the belief that our returning wounded veterans should be recognized not only for the sacrifices they have made, but for everything they have left to give.
They have offered 40 fellowships since they were established and hope to award 60 fellowships this year. The fellowship is a 14 week program where they work full-time at local charitable organizations. These positions include working with wounded veterans and other organizations such as the Veterans Administration, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and the Equine Ranch where they work with horses. Fellows are presented a small living stipend to meet their expenses as they transition back into society. Each Fellow has a mentor to help them through this process.
The Mission Continues is looking for volunteers that would like to help wounded veterans. One way you could help is as a Veteran Outreach Coordinator. This position required about three hours a week looking for wounded veterans to bring into the program. Other positions are helping with press releases, general office administration, and leaders of service projects.
