I have often talked about how the people in the foodservice industry do so much for charities. I think I know two chefs that have gone over the edge or soon will be. Chefs Jerry Edwards and John Walsh of Chef’s Expression Catering have agreed to rappel the 23 story Silo Point Tower on Wednesday, September 30 at 2:30 p.m. in order to raise funds for the Gaudenzia Women and Children’s Center. (see photos of the chefs as they rappelled the building here)
The image of two middle aged chefs who aren’t very svelte rappelling 23 floors is worth the $1,500 they are trying to raise for this worthy cause. If you want to see these less than athletic, big hearted chefs take the challenge then here is what you do:

What is Gaudenzia?
Gaudenzia: Addiction Treatment & Recovery Services is Maryland’s largest nonprofit substance abuse treatment provider. Last year, over 5,000 Marylanders received services through our 19 programs and 9 facilities.
What is Over the Edge
Over the Edge, the newest fundraising event, is: active, fun, outside the box, company and family friendly, and safe. Over the edge offers the chance to rappel down a high-rise building. This unique fundraising event is currently hosted in multiple marketplaces in North America.
Is it safe?
Yes! Safety is the priority for Over the Edge for Recovery. The event will be staffed with highly-trained industrial Ropes Specialists who comply with regulations enforced by the IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) counsel. All equipment is installed and tested for safety before the event.
