Comments
I just shoveled thirty inches of snow. All of this after the back injuries of 2004. As it is just the cat and I stuck in the house, I have no source of consolation. So I could really use some oysters and beer. (Okay, the wine cellar has been a great source of comfort but it is not the same.)
Lingering dreams of the summers last,
Marinate my mind with a tasteful past.
Aromatic notes play on my tongue,
As Mom-Moms recipe is being sung.
Entering the kitchen to get a peak,
A crescendo of smell, a kiss on the cheek.
Oatmeal-covered oysters dance on the pan,
Turning golden brown since the song began.
Orchestrated beauty placed before me.
A smile from her that my heart can still see.
My eyes open with sorrow to know she is gone.
But I will never forget my Mom-Moms song.
Let's see, why would I want to go...should I tug on an emotional string and hope sentimentality will tug at a judge's heartstrings? Or should I be so blatant and post a reason where humor oozes through the cracks in its abusrdity? I will throw out the sentimentality and just say I want the experience and I want to write about it. Food is my passion, writing is my skill, and my hobby is combining the two. I will breathe in everything through all five senses then exhale my experience through my fingertips onto black and white lettering. Every taste, aroma, and chill in the air will be recorded and displayed for anyone who cares to read it to see.
