Are you a meat lover, a barbecue (BBQ) lover, a lover of all things meat well welcome to Baltimore’s Meat Week. Kicking off Sunday, January 31st through Sunday, February 7th join your carnivorous peeps for Meat Week for 8 straight days of local barbecue. Meat Week is held in multiple cities, it isn’t just regional.
How does Meat Week work you ask?
Local organizers who take on the title of Captain and First Mate plan 7 days of meat consumption at local BBQ (barbecue) restaurants. The line up for Baltimore’s 2010 Meat Week restaurants are:
Baltimore’s 2010 Schedule:
Sunday, Shorty’s, 1PM
Monday, Big Bad Wolf’s, 7PM
Tuesday, Andy Nelson’s, 7PM
Wednesday, Chap’s, 7PM
Thursday, HarborQue, 7PM
Friday, RUB, 8PM
Saturday, Mr. Chelsea’s, 1PM
From what I can gather, you just meet the Meat lovers at these locations and become part of the group.
Ooooh, oooh you said 8 days where is day 8?
Unlike God’s wisdom to rest on day 7, Meat Week is 8 days. How apropos that day 8 is Super Bowl, a pig skin bonanza and all mates gather at a fleet member’s home for BYOBBQ. You’ve eaten the BBQ all week and now you get to strut your stuff. With all the naval titles, I wonder if this should be Seafood Week?
Newcomers’ guide
Meat week has numerous traditions, pictures, group pictures at each location under the restaurant sign. Everything is pretty well explained in newcomers guide.
2009 Meat Week honors
No real guideline here, Captain and First Mate come up with awards. Last year there was Rookies of the Year, Slaughter Mouth Five, Meat Spaz Award, Meat Baby (I especially liked this one), Meat Making a Difference, and Dynameat Duo etc.
2009 Best of
