Nine locally renowned and celebrity chefs auctioned off a wine dinner for 24 guests to benefit Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland. This dinner alone raised $28,000 for the charity. By providing nutritious meals to people who homebound due to age or disability, Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland supports independent living and quality of life for individuals who wish to remain in their own homes. Meals on Wheels is more than a meal, they offer other programs and services to help clients maintain independence and peace of mind.
As reported, “Jerry Edwards CPCE is the spokesperson for Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland and it is an organization close to his heart. All of the chefs who are participating in this dinner also give their time and resources to the annual fundraiser – this year, they raised an impressive $145K which helps provide nutritious meals to people who are homebound due to age or disability.”

I can’t say enough about our local chefs who support numerous charities, year-after-year – without their generosity many charities would be at a loss. These are tough times for the independent restaurateurs. I read in a recent report that over 4,000 restaurants in the US closed in less than a year, the majority were independently owned. A great way of saying thank you to the chefs is to support their local restaurants and business.
