This is enough to test anyone’s cholesterol meds. After the big launch of their grilled chicken offering healthy alternatives, KFC has created the Double Down sandwich for those with a death wish.
The Double down consist of two Original recipe fried-chicken fillets that replace the bread and in between these crispy pieces of chicken is bacon, Swiss and pepper-Jack cheese and the colonel’s sauce. When did the colonel get a sauce? Should we be glad there are no wasted calories on commercial grade pasty white bread?
So who here wants to eat one of these? They are being test marketed in Omaha, Nebraska and Providence, Rhode Island.
Restaurant News reports the KFC spokesman Rick Maynard noted that inaccurate estimates of the calories in the Double Down have been reported.
“While we don’t have final nutritional data for test market items,” Maynard wrote, “we estimate the Double Down at just under 600 calories.”
That projection disputes an independent calorie analysis conducted by the Vancouver Sun newspaper, cited by the Huffington Post, which estimated the Double Down to contain more than 1,200 calories and more than 80 grams of fat.

I wonder when restaurants and fast food chains decided that bigger (or fatter) was better? So many seem to have jumped on that bandwagon that it makes it harder for the ones serving sensible portions and meals to make a living.
8 peace meal?
Yup, all the calories destroyed the brain cells...8 peace meal..LOL
"sandwich for those with a death wish." That may have been a joke, but it really does seem that some of these fast food joints (Wendy's is the worst) are purposely tapping into some sort of sick death wish psychology with the promotion of these sandwiches. Some kind of reaction to the nanny society by the slobs who eat this junk: "I'll eat myself into the grave and you can't stop me, at least I can control this!"
