Originally from Columbia, MO, but now calling Brooklyn, NY home, six-piece band White Rabbits are hitting the road – again – as momentum continues to build for their sophomore record, “It's Frightening.” The album’s propulsive single "Percussion Gun,” is on its way to securing a spot as one of the best singles of the year. The band’s nearly unhinged (and that’s meant in a good way) performance of the song on Letterman earlier this year was a revelation.
Now the tune has been licensed by Ralph Lauren for the new Fall Collection so you’ll be hearing the double-drumming tune as all the pretty preppies pose. Rather than hold that against them, we’ll hope that the compelling track gains new fans, and offer the band’s official video as better way to “see” the song:
A true band on the move, White Rabbits spent about two years on the road, after the release of their debut CD, “Fort Nightly,” including festival stops at Lollapallooza and Glastonbury (UK) and tours with The Walkmen, Spoon and Tokyo Police Club, among others.
When it came time to record a sophomore album, the band enlisted tourmate and friend Britt Daniel to produce. It proved to be a highly productive pairing, as the Spoon frontman is no stranger to adding innovative flourishes to strong pop structures, both of which are hallmarks of the Rabbits’ dark pop. The strong pedigree of engineer Nicholas Vernhes (Animal Collective, Deerhunter) and working in an analog-friendly studio added to the sophisticated sonics. The songs were months in preparation, giving them a solid foundation, but recorded in a quick four weeks, so there’s a bracing urgency, too.
If you haven't heard the White Rabbits yet, check 'em out at one of these spots:

And the band will be back on the road this fall, begging the questions, will there be Ralph Lauren supermodels in tow? And will they (the band, not the babes) be dressed to impress?
