Thursday, November 19, 2009 on the Rachael Ray Show will feature a woman who lost six pounds while following the "400-Calorie Fix" (Prevention magazine).
According to the Prevention website, somebody on this diet would adhere to their recipes. On this diet there are no forbidden ingredients or "complicated rules". The diet plan is supposed to last for two weeks, with a claimed test panel having lost 10 pounds.
Nutritional experts generally do not recommend cutting calories to such an extreme for any amount of time. Often 1,200 calories being the bare minimum for women.
Kay Spears, a Certified Clinical Nutritionist in San Antonio, TX says, "In order to get the body healthy and to lose weight you must lose body fat and increase muscle mass. I often see individuals on calorie restricted diets, although the scale reflects a loss, the body loses muscle and gains body fat."
"Anytime someone or especially some company trying to sell a product gives a one size fits all solution to losing weight, that should seem a little fishy.", says Nicholas Woods, of Motivational Personal Training.
