Exploring Chestnut Ridge Park by Lance Becvar
In this series on places your child or children can get fit in, there is another park that should be mentioned. That park is called Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park, New York that has been providing fun activities to children over a time frame of many generations. This is indeed an old park that is close by, visited by many and yet has inspired many families to keeping back for more new experiences. Chestnut Ridge Park is unique place to explore with your child or children because of its year round activities that take place there.
As child, my fondest memories were going down the Toboggan chute in the winter time with my dad mom and sisters in the seventies (see the slide show). Those were some great times and yet I have also been to the park for many memorable summer activities as well. This is a great place to hike as there are many hills and trails to explore with your children. There are playgrounds for your little ones to get their exercise in as well as tennis courts that your older children can enjoy. Bicycling is also a great activity to take part in at the park, because of all the hills that can help your child build their endurance in. Your child may also cross paths with deer and other furry animals, so be on the look out for those moments as well. There are many picnic areas that need to be reserved ahead of time for parties. However just going there for a couple hours can indeed be a great place for children to get fit in, just check it out.
