Detroit Tigers 9 Kansas City Royals 5: Detroit wins it in the 11th.

Game recap: Kansas City jumped out to a 4 run lead in the second inning.  Detroit would answer with four runs in the seventh inning.  Brandon Inge singled to center scoring Ryan Raburn and Brennan Boesch.  Don Kelly moved to second.  Alex Avila singled, which scored Kelly and moved Brandon Inge to second.  Casper Wells singled and Inge was thrown out at home, but Avila moved to third.  Avila then scored on a wild pitch.

In the eighth Ryan Raburn hit a solo home run which was answered in the bottom of the inning by Kansas City's Alex Gordon.

In the eleventh inning, Detroit scored four runs.  Will Rhymes tripled to center scoring Avila and Wells.  Ryan Raburn singled scoring Rhymes.  Austin Jackson then sacrificed to the pitcher which scored Johnny Damon. 

Jeremy Bonderman went 7.1 innings giving up seven hits, and four earned runs.  Ryan Perry (3-5) won for the Tigers and Jesse Chavez (5-5) took the loss for the Royals.

Good news: Don Kelly was 3 for 5 with a run scored.  Ryan Raburn was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBI.  Alex Avila was 2 for 5 with two runs scored and one RBI.

Bad news: Tigers win the game in extra innings, and have thirteen hits- no bad news on a Friday night.

Tiger tales: Austin Jackson scored three runs Thursday night at Minnesota and has now scored at least one run in 12 of his last 13 games, totaling 18 runs scored during the streak.  He leads all American League rookies with 87 runs scored, the most by a Tigers rookie since Jake Wood scored 96 runs during the 1961 season.

Austin Jackson collected three hits on Thursday night the Twins, marking his 13th game with three or more hits this season.  His 13 games with three or more hits are the most by a Tigers rookie since Ricky Peters posted 15 games in 1980.

Will Rhymes collected two hits last night against the Twins and has hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games.  Rhymes ranks second among all American League rookies with a .315 batting average (35 for 111) since the all-star break.

Next-up: Rick Porcello (7-11, 5.20 ERA, right-hander) will face Kansas City's Bruce Chen (9-7, 4.76 ERA, left-hander).  Chen is 45-50 for his career and 4-5 in his last ten games.  He last faced the Tigers August 23rd.  He went 4.1 innings, gave up five hits, and five earned runs in a loss.
