Their running back situation in dire straits, the Broncos turned to an old foe as they signed former Oakland running back Justin Fargas on Wednesday.

Fargas, whom the Raiders released because of an apparent failed physical, participated in practice and should play Sunday at Cincinnati.

"I'm going to do whatever they ask me to do," Fargas said.

Fargas is the second running back signed in the past week after the team signed former Tennessee Titans running back and fellow USC alum LenDale White last Wednesday.

The moves have been necessary since starting running back Knowshon Moreno and primary backup Correll Buckhalter are both out with injuries. White has also suffered some nagging injuries and is unlikely to play on Sunday and will miss the first four regular season games due to a suspension.

Fargas has had some big games against Denver, including a 33-carry, 146-yard performance back in 2007 in a 34-20 Raider win, and a 107-yard outburst in 2008 in a 31-10 victory for Oakland.

"Well I've noticed through experience that teams you perform well against tend to look to you when they have an opportunity so I saw that a lot in Oakland with guys that made plays against us and then we'd pick them up. Whatever it was that got me here, I'm just glad to be here," Fargas said.

He will now attempt to provide some depth and possibly supplant journeyman Lance Ball who had climbed to the top of the depth chart with the injuries to Moreno, Buckhalter and White.

"It's really just, from what I understand, it's just going to be whatever I make it. I'm just looking forward to working hard, learning as much as I can and just helping the offense," Fargas said.

Fargas is the son of Antonio Fargas, best known for his role as Huggy Bear on TV's "Starsky and Hutch."
