Denial of proven fact is an interesting card to play if you want to be taken seriously, and wisely, few prominent Republican politicians are supporting the idea. One of them, California's own John Campbell, took his chances last night on MSNBC's Hardball, stating that he supports legislation that would require presidents to submit their birth certificates before being approved for the presidency. Chris Mathews made him look pretty squeamish.
A video circulating from a town hall meeting held by Mike Castle, a Republican Congressman from Delaware, is also bringing national airplay. At the meeting, a fanatical woman with her own birth certificate in hand calls out the Congressman for not doing more about the illegitimate president. "Why are you people ignoring his birth certificate?" she asks. "He's not an American citizen; he's a citizen of Kenya!" Castle, looking shocked, assures her that Obama is a citizen, and the crowd erupts into a frenzy of boo's.
Democratic strategists should be licking their chops over this one. Moderate voters, the ones that could vote either way in any given election, know insanity when they see it. If anything, these far-right conspiracy theorists are hurting their party by souring their image.
The argument about Obama's nationality is somewhat telling of the strategy some Republicans have taken since he became president. In many cases, their position has been to simply oppose any idea that Democrats endorse. Guantanamo Bay? Keep it open. Bailout money? Why should we reward bad decisions? Sonia Sotomayor? She's a racist. Health care reform? Not interested. Invest in green technology? Global warming is a lie, let's drill.
Depending on where your politics lie, all or none of these stances are reasonable. It seems telling though, that some are now following suit with the birth certificate controversy. Obama? He's not even an American.
Maybe there are simply millions of people that disagree with Obama's politics and don't want to recognize him as our leader. After all, there were plenty of "Not My President" shirts floating around after Bush won reelection in 2004. And if that's the case, that's fine. But buying into insane conspiracy theories is a whole different ballgame. If you're a democrat, you should hope that this story never goes away.

Why not just to present his Birth certificate and end all the controversy? What the problem?
I do not know why he just does not make the certificate available to dispel the doubts. Instead, lots of money in legal fees have been spent to prevent this from happening.
Re: "If you're a democrat, you should hope that this story never goes away"
...but humans should also consider that most of the birfer kooks are openly advocating violence against Obama and any non-whites, egging each other on with it and feeling legitimized by the likes of Dobbs, Hannity and Limbaugh. The next time one of them gets incited enough to shoot people (like Von Brunn), their terrorist leaders should be taken out just like any Taliban.
Dear Mr. Chapel:
Firstly, you are an idiot and I don't agree with your premise at all. This issue could not possibly be helping democrats, instead it is energizing the base of the Republican Party. Many Americans including myself doubt the legitimacy of Obama because he has stonewalled on the issue rather than producing unequivocal evidence with a long form birth certificate that he is a natural born citizen. Until he does that, his actions equate to a denial. Who cares what leftist nutters in the state-run media like Chris Matthews think because they are Obama hacks on the take anyway. Don't insult the American public on this issue because they are not stupid, rather they understand the Constitution despite everything being done to sweep it under the carpet. I can tell, sir, that are no patriot, rather a pathetic agent of a loser ideology in liberalism.
The president is not going to play the game the nut jobs on the right want him to play. If he submits his birth certificate than they will say Obama is not of the human species and must submit a blood sample for DNA testing. Give me a break.
Next thing you know, people will be saying that I am a terrorist because of where I was born.
This makes NO sense. Obama has NEVER presented any Original Birth Certificate as well as other documentation that would legitimize his position. And why would we bet our Country on some supposedly independent Internet organization to validate a certificate is beyond me. I was a moderate Democrate until I started reading the mountains of eveidence against Obama's Presidency including his ties to terrorist, ACORN, etc. It simply does not pass the smell test!! Reflecting on the past year, I made a big mistake voting for him and would never do it again.
Not only has his birth certificate been identified and validated by independent research groups, they also have original copies of a newspaper clipping in the local Hawaii paper from the day after his birth announcing it...The president doesn't have to submit to right wing insanity. And if you're a moderate democrat and you believe this story, I'm really frightened for the future. If I have to shut my brain off to be considered a "Patriot," I don't want to be one.
"Despite investigations by several independent fact checking organizations that confirmed the presidents legitimacy..."
-
Why do they have to do this? Wouldn't it be easier of he just presented the BC?
He won't release his college records, and the press doesn't even ask. The press... isn't.
The birth certificate on display is a short form certificate..it is not a normal birth certificate. Obama has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees preventing his "vault certificate" being viewed. Obama attended public school in Indonesia..you have to be an Indonesian citizen.
Darren keep drinking the kool aid.
Can someone explain to me why the soldier who challenged his deployment order had his case dismissed because the President had his deployment orders revoked? Seems easier to just get the birth certificate since the "Certificate of Live Birth" isn't signed by a doctor. Why doesn't the doctor just say "I delivered Obama?"
Yeah, the case of the soldier is very interesting. He refuses his deployment orders because he doesn't think Obama is legitimate, and the night before his hearing, the Army just rescinds the order with no explanation, thus preventing the hearing.
No hearing... no discovery.
Dear Mr. Chappel:
You are a poor journalist and even worse debater. The premise of your article is that the issue will help Democrats, yet you offer nothing to substantiate your claim other than referring to a TV spot by a liberal hack and Obama symphathizer in Chris Matthews and by saying that moderate voters recognize insanity. So what you're insinuating is that the Constitution and all the people wishing to adhere to it are foolish because our laws require a person to be a natural born citizen in order to become President. That is complete nonsense. Instead of offering cogent, lucid arguments, all you have done is made ad hominen attacks on those people who follow the letter of the Constitution. There is no shame in that. No, you are no patriot, that is true, just another liberal hack and intellectual want-to-be bent on destroying the principles that made this country great.
The SF Democrat Examiner aka The View from Obamas Butt
On December 17, 1991, Obama is admitted to Illinois Bar, enabling him to practice law. On his application he lies at least three times, failing to disclose that he had previously used the name Barry Soetoro, neglecting to disclose his record of drug use, and failing to disclose his approximate $400 in unpaid parking fines.
This article is another pathetically transparent repetiton of a falsehood whose purpose is to present the appearance of truth.
There is nothing "fanatical" about asking and demanding that the Constitution be respected and followed.
Dang, that must mean all the Sarah Palin bashing by you leftist Obamabots is helping her.
Rep. A. Smyth (VA), House of Representatives, December 1820:
When we apply the term citizens to the inhabitants of States, it means those who are members of the political community. The civil law determined the condition of the son by that of the father. A man whose father was not a citizen was allowed to be a perpetual inhabitant, but not a citizen, unless citizenship was conferred on him.
If I may make one last point, as Obama's plummeting approval numbers are now showing, the American people are fed up with this charlatan's pathological lies and deception. He will be be exposed for the fraud he is before it is over. You and your left-wing Constitution deniers are not fooling anyone with your pseudo propaganda like with this article in branding patriots as extremists. Take your loser party and ideology and shove it were the sun doesn't shine.
In the year 1866, the United States for the first time adopted a local municipal law under Sec. 1992 of U.S. Revised Statutes that read: All persons born in the United States and not subject to any foreign power, excluding Indians not taxed, are declared to be citizens of the United States.
Rep. Bingham commenting on Section 1992 said it means every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen. (Cong. Globe, 39th, 1st Sess., 1291 (1866))
Bingham subscribed to the same view as most everyone in Congress at the time that in order to be born a citizen of the United States one must be born within the allegiance of the Nation. Bingham had explained that to be born within the allegiance of the United States the parents, or more precisely, the father, must not owe allegiance to some other foreign sovereignty
Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, James F. Wilson of Iowa, added on March 1, 1866: We must depend on the general law relating to subjects and citizens recognized by all nations for a definition, and that must lead us to the conclusion that every person born in the United States is a natural-born citizen of such States, except children born on our soil to temporary sojourners or representatives of foreign Governments.
The congressman quoted below must be "fanatics".
President Washington warned a passionate attachment of one nation for another, produces a variety of evils, and goes on to say:
Sympathy for the favorite nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest, in cases where no real common interest exists, and infusing into one the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation in the quarrels and wars of the latter, without adequate inducement or justification. It leads also to concessions to the favorite nation, of privileges denied to others, which is apt doubly to injure the nation making the concessions; by unnecessarily parting with what ought to have been retained; and by exciting jealousy, ill- will, and a disposition to retaliate, in the parties from whom equal privileges are withheld.
And it gives to ambitious, corrupted, or deluded citizens, (who devote themselves to the favorite nation,) facility to betray or sacrifice the interests of their own country, without odium, sometimes ev
What better way to insure attachment to the country then to require the President to have inherited his American citizenship through his American father and not through a foreign father. Any child can be born anywhere in the country and removed by their father to be raised in his native country. The risks would be for the child to return in later life to reside in this country bringing with him foreign influences and intrigues, thus, making such a citizen indistinguishable from a naturalized citizen.
EXCERPT OF SECRETARY CHERTOFF TESTIMONY FROM APRIL 2, 2008:
Secretary Chertoff. My assumption and my understanding is that if you are born of American parents, you are naturally a natural-born American citizen.
Is this the Democrat Examiner or the Savage Nation fan page??
He's a Muslim too!
Hey Darren,
I'm the Minneapolis Democrat Examiner, and have been getting a lot of unsupportive comments, so don't listen to IllinosPatriot. I liked your article and enjoyed your view on it. Obama not an American citizen? C'mon ... people have gotta come up with better stories!
Despite your honest beliefs, you have single handedly shown why right-wing conspiracy theorists like yourselves are helping democrats (the original premise of my article). By arguing against Obamas legitimacy as a citizen, you sound INSANE in the eyes of most Americans. Besides quoting scripture from the 19th century, you've done nothing to persuade me of the fact that Obama HAS BEEN PROVEN an American citizen by independent research/fact checking groups.
The premise of my article was that this publicity is helping democrats, not hurting them. You havent come close to proving, through you're insane and incredible sources, that Im wrong. Neither are the American people...You represent an opinion that prominent republicans don't dare approach because they know that its political suicide to support a claim WITHOUT ANY FACTS TO BACK IT UP. I'm glad you're interested in my blog, but even more pleased that you have single-handedly proved my point about how insane you people are.
Thanks for taking such an interest in my blog, guys. Im sorry it took me so long to get back on here today. Since there were lots of responses to the opinion piece I put up this morning, Im breaking this response up into two different parts Its a little critical and defensive, but I want to say that despite of that, everyone is welcome here, and that Im glad weve got a little dialogue going on. Argument is a great thing. That said . Logicwings and IllinoisPatriot..., you have to give me a chance to retort.
I find it strange that no one has mentioned this: Why is Obama the only President who has ever had to prove the legitimacy of his Birth Certificate??? He may be the first African American President, but he is not the first black man to be born in the USA.
You are all under the smoke screen created by the MSM. The Gov of California can legally be Gov. However he cannot be President. Do you know why? Barry Soetoro, AKA Barack H. Obama, may be a Citizen of the USA, but may still be ineligible to be POTUS. Do you know why? John McCain was the subject of a special resolution during the 2008 campaign, where certain politicians sponsored the resolution stating that John McCain was eligible to run for president. Special resolutions are in fact NOT A LAW. There was and is still doubt by Constitutional Lawyers as to the eligibilty of Senator and War Hero John S. McCains eligibility to have been a candidate for POTUS. This resolution was co-sponsored by Barry Soetoro, AKA Barack H. Obama. Do you know why this resolution came about? Even if Barry Soetoro, AKA Barack H. Obama was born in Hawaii, that in and of itself does not mean he is Constitutionally eligible to hold the office of POTUS. Do you know why? Find out.
Millions of Americans are mad as Hell at libtard legislators running roughshod over the US Constitution. These traitorous trolls, led by a Marxist Muslim usurper, are ramming Socialist policies down our throats and put our country on the fast-track to destruction. You, and the other media morons, endlessly pimp an illegal President while attacking everyone for asking about his hidden history.
Barack Obama, who cited two different Hawaiian hospitals where he was born, was NOT born in Hawaii, is not Constitutionally qualified to be President, was never issued a 2007 Certification of Live Birth (COLB), and is guilty of felony document fraud for forging one. He is also guilty of election fraud for illegally paying his lawyer $1 million to threaten citizens with sanctions who ask to see his real BC. Millons now know this COLB is bogus and bristle at the Fascist mentality of the media who attack them for saying that only a natural-born citizen can be President and Obama's not one of them.
I rest my case.
It seems pretty obvious to me that this whole "Birther" thing (mostly a white southern Republican affliction) is the desperation of racists fighting against the changing times.
Obamunism or Obamunist
