Rob Miller raises over $1 million dollars

   J.Scott Applewhite| AP

Rob Miller (D-SC) has raised over $1 million dollars thanks to Rep. Joe Wilson's (R-SC) child like outburst during President Obama's health care reform speech last Wednesday night to the nation where Wilson shouted out "you lie" to the President.

Miller who is currently seen as the democratic primary front runner and the likely opponent against Wilson in next years mid-term election posted a blog on the Daily Kos website to thank everyone fro the contributions.

This is from Miller’s thank you: “When I first ran against Joe Wilson in 2008, I did it knowing that, like a lot of Americans, I would be fighting an uphill battle. Wilson—as his childish display the other night made clear—does not represent the people of my district, but the insurance industry that fattens his campaign wallet.”

The website Politico is reporting that an un-named source close to the Wilson campaign has said that Wilson has raised over $1 million dollars. At the moment it is not possible for me to verify if this is true, Wilson’s website has been down for a few day’s due to his outburst and people wanting to learn more about him.

If it’s true that Wilson has raised over $1 million dollars, (and I have no reason to believe that an un-named republican source would lie, right!) it is obvious that there are many who support his childish antics and the disrespect he shows for the office of the President of the United States.

Still, the mid-term election is fourteen months away so it might as well be fourteen years when it comes to politics and how opinion can change on a dime.

You can read Millers complete thank you note as well as another blog posting by Miller at the Daily Kos website linked above.

Nice piece of biased crap. Politico actually reported that Wilson raised more than Miller. Your source for Miller's contributions is beyond reproach? Good one!

Did you disapprove of the hecklers at President Bush's last State of the Union Address? Pelosi and Kennedy didn't even stand up. Liberal hypocrite.

I sent $50 to Rob Miller's campaign and I live in Texas. I have never seen anyone interrupt a presidential address and show such disrespect as Wilson did. Some heckling always happens, but Wilson went way over the line and should resign in disgrace.

    To Harold

If you would have read the above article, Mr. Phillips clearly wrote :

"The website Politico is reporting that an un-named source close to the Wilson campaign has said that Wilson has raised over $1 million dollars."

And if you would have rechecked the Politico story you would see a revision to the story at the bottom.

You are clearly bias to the point you are whining about something not being in the above article that clearly is.

Geez the guy even posted the link to the Politico story.

Joe Wilson is a disaster for the Republican party. It is okay if he disagrees with the President on certain policies but it is not okay for him to yell, "you lie". That is extremely disrespectful, ignorant and very childish. Why would anyone want somebody like Joe Wilson in Congress? I'll tell you who, ignorant Americans that do not pay attention to politics.

Mr. Miller this is just a short note to ask: Why are you hiding your eyes? Even if I resided in South Carolina I could not see fit to vote for you because the Democratic Party has lied to America. My apology if this insults you and I hate to go against anyone who has served in the Marine Corps, but this is one time I will have to do so. Semper Fi, Mr. Miller on the part of having served in America's finest, but again I don't agree with your politics.

Hey Phil, the guy "hiding his eyes" is the author of the article, David Phillips, not Rob Miller, the congressional candidate who is the subject of the piece. You're not paying attention.

I gave Miller $25. Hope he wins.

    Miller has raised a million..

Perhaps now he will be able to pay off some that $400,000.00 debt I hear he has.

In the meantime, I've heard that Wilson has raised over a million..despite his web site being down.

Once that site gets back up.. who knows how high the figure will go.

    I know I haven't sent him a check yet..and I intend to.

Was his outburst rude and inappropriate in the setting in which it was made.

    Yup!

    Was it true?

    Also, yup!

I'm glad SOMEONE had the guts to say what millions were probably saying to their TV sets as they watched Obama LIE his ass off.

We all wanted to say it, Obama you lie

How can we pay for health care reform by "cutting the was tand fraud in medicare and medicaid"

Does obama really believe that only 5 per cent of people will sign up. Come on people wake the hell up.

"Pelosi and Kennedy didn't even stand up. Liberal hypocrite."

Not standing up is a respectful way to not show support for what is being said. Yelling "You Lie" is just plain childish.

Huh, over $1M as of 9/12? What happened to old fashion journalism, you know, investigating, checking facts, double checking and so on? I went to Rob Miller's site and see as of today, 9/18 he has raised $936K. I've checked a couple times the past few days and it's increasing daily by $1-2K. On the other hand, Joe Wilson's site shows he's raised $1.88M as of today and increasing by $7-10K per day. It's possible, I suppose, that Rob has another site or maybe his site isn't accurate. I guess.
