This past Friday President Barack Obama was invited to speak and answer questions from GOP members at the GOP House Issues Conference in Baltimore, MD.

While its not that unusual for a sitting President to speak to the opposition Party, it was the first that it was televised, and what a show President Obama put on for the world to see. The Nation and the world saw why he was elected President.

President Obama faced off with 140 angry GOP House members and their families who were also in attendance. It was David vs. Goliath, it was the Thrilla in Maryland, and President Obama showed that he knows his issues inside and out, and FULLY understands the GOP tactics and spin.

I think that if President Obama were to meet with the GOP twice a month like this meeting and air everything (the GOP is screaming for transparency), the Republicans in order to avoid more egg on their faces would have to work with the democrats instead of not doing their jobs by simply saying no to everything, which is why the GOP is now called the “Party of No“.

The GOP won’t be doing this again anytime soon because they took a beat down from the President who knew the real facts and not the rhetoric that the GOP and their propaganda channel of Fox opinion shows spew 24 hours a day.

One of the major problems with the Obama admin is that they don't go on Sunday talk shows like the Bush people did and have all of them promote what ever it was that they wanted to promote at that time and at the same time. The Obama administration allows Congress to do their talking, and that was and is a bad idea because of the politics in Congress. The Whitehouse message gets so muddled that the only thing people remember is that it was a Whitehouse idea and nothing more as we saw with Health Care Reform.

If the Whitehouse wants to move its agenda forward they are going to have to be proactive in the media instead of reactive.

But this past Friday was a great start and his administration now needs to keep doing the same.

You can watch the entire speech and Question and Answer session that followed below. You really don’t want to miss this. Grab the popcorn, take your shoes off and push play.
