Guns at New Mexico teabaggers tea party

Alamogordo, New Mexico Roadrunner (scrap iron), (photo goggle maps, by: spronco)

Alamogordo, New Mexico-This past Saturday about 300 real Americans, in real America showed up to express their dismay of President Barack Obama with the usual flag waving, sign carrying and gun toting. They were concerned with guns, health care, taxes and oh yeah, did I mention guns.

According to the New Mexico Independent’s Chris Dudley “organizers encouraged attendees to bring firearms”. The organizers were “Otero Tea Party Patriots, the Alamogordo Second Amendment Task Force and the Sons of Liberty Riders, a motorcycle rights organization. Protestors were encouraged by the organizing groups to bring guns to the protest.”

Since when did it become “patriotic” to bring guns to a political rally? At this anti Obama gun toting patriotic political rally, it was encouraged.

This past summer at two Presidential town hall meetings guns were present, first at New Hampshire where one man was shown carrying a side arm holding a sign that reads; "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants,"  a quote from Thomas Jefferson. The Secret Service said that the State laws prevented them from doing anything, the Secret Service also said another man was arrested for carrying an unlicensed gun before the start of New Hampshire town hall .

At the second Presidential town hall meeting in Arizona more guns showed up, and again the Secret Service said that there was nothing that they could do. About a dozen men showed up packing guns openly. One of those men, this man, who at the time refused to give his name is a member of an extremist church, the church of the Faithful Word Baptist Church who’s Pastor Steven Anderson prays for President Obama to die, and has given several sermons asking for him to die.

It's simple, anyone who shows up where the President will be cannot carry a gun, you know, it sounds so simple, sounds sensible, sounds like something that even the Secret Service themselves would understand, which I am sure they do. The Secret Service needs to make their own point about guns at political events , if you show up with guns where the President will be in attendance, at the very least you and your gun will be locked up until the President has left

At those two town halls, the Secret Service said that there was nothing that they could do other than watch, because those States laws allowed them to carry fire arms, that may be true, but, the Federal government is constantly usurping State laws, so you can't tell me that when the President is in town his safety doesn't override Bubba's right to stand outside the building with a gun where the President is.

It’s time  for the "Tea Party" to act like adults and to start using common sense, political events are NOT events that you brings your guns too, it is not patriotic, it is foolishness.  And it's time that the Secret Service put a stop to it.

This is a video from this past weekends event in Alamogordo, New Mexico:

Just a couple thoughts! The so called tea baggers carried legal permitted guns to a anti tax rally without firing them, hurting anybody with them, robbing someone with them, Hmmm, How dare they.Have those secret service agents waterboard them for such an act. After all they should not try to limit Gov't they should protest that we need more gov't and taxes.

And that Nasty ole Pastor praying for The death of a president. Despicable1 He should have prayed for the whole US of A to be damned like the Nobel Peace Prize winning Presidents Pastor. That's what we need.

And to think those tea baggers would quote a Radical Like Thomas Jefferson The gall.

In fact, this is already the case. At any location where the United States President makes an appearance, a security perimeter is established by the United States Secret Service. No unauthorized individual in possession of any weapon is permitted to enter the established perimeter. You are evidently advocating a policy that is already extant.

" so you can't tell me that when the President is in town his safety doesn't override Bubba's right to stand outside the building with a gun where the President is. "

In fact, no individual, named "Bubba" or otherwise, who has been in possession of a firearm has been permitted to stand directly outside of a building concurrently occupied by President Obama.

This article represents an extremely ignorant point of view. People rallying for the right for an individual to protect his/her self is one of the most important rallys that could be attended. If every law abiding citizen carried a gun we would have virtually no crime. These are good people who are peacefully expressing themselves for a good cause. Only ignorance and blindness would lead someone to see evil in the tea party protests.

    To Rod:

No where in the article does the writer say its illegal to carry the guns, in fact he says it was legal. What he did say was "it is not patriotic, it is foolishness"

And since you said that about the Pastor "He should have prayed for the whole US of A to be damned like the Nobel Peace Prize winning Presidents Pastor.

You are simply a joke. But I bet you already knew that.

Only your ignorance would see political rally's as the proper venue to bring guns.

First, please stop using a gay sexual slur won't you?

Second, this is not news, because in NH we all carry all the time. Political rallies are no different.

Much ado about nothing, except to the whining progressive pukes.

PS - word to the wise -- NH does not require 'licenses' to carry.

The man was a contractor and he had it in his truck where it always is... and forgot about it.

I was standing with the second man and he was attacked by SEIU thugs and spit on... he didn't draw, so what's the story here?

    Your news is bogus.

"These are good people who are peacefully expressing themselves for a good cause. "

While firearms ownership rights is an "important cause", attempts to shift focus of discussion from the relevant topic of health care reform to the irrelevant topic of firearms ownership rights suggests narcissism.

To Dimensio and Waking up without coffee,

If you've ever been to one of these rallies, which I have, you would know that they often don't talk about just one thing. I wasn't at this rally but from the article it sounds like gun rights was one of several topics including health care. If gun rights is a topic of the rally what's wrong with acting within your legal right to bring a gun. It was probably for the purpose of making the statement that they are determined not to let the government take that right away. I would feel perfectly comfortable and safe attending that ralley if these people are anything like the other tea party protestors I've meet, and I would even bring my wife and my children... and my own gun. One day the consevatives in this country will save our Constitution and our country from the destructive progressive policies that are crippling this nation. I doubt we'll even get a thank you for it from the progessives, and that'll be fine with me.

"It was probably for the purpose of making the statement that they are determined not to let the government take that right away."

While such a sentiment is generally laudable, explicitly drawing attention to firearms ownership and -- specifically -- to firearm possession upon the premises of the rally when the rally has presumably been organized with the express purpose of declaring opposition to currently debated legislative actions during a time when no currently debated legislative action relates to the unreasonable firearms confiscation efforts advocated by organizations such as the Brady Center to Ban All Guns or by tyrants such as Senator Diane Feinstein or Representative Carolyn McCarthy suggests an attempt -- whether deliberate or subconscious -- to shift focus of discussion from relevant topics to an irrelevant topic that happens to be of interest to the protesters.

In fact, I would suggest that some recently expressed opinions of civilian firearms ownership rights advocates may be counter-productive. The organization known as Gun Owners of America has recently expressed concern that the collection of data regarding firearms ownership would be mandated or at least explicitly endorsed by some future health care reform legislation. While such data collection is unreasonable, no actual proposal for such collection had been made. Since those concerns were expressed, however, representatives of the Brady Center to Ban All Guns have evidently endorsed the concept, apparently not having considered the feasibility of such a measure until opposition to the measure had been expressed. Essentially, the Gun Owners of America may have created the very issue that they had warned against.

these 'teabaggers' would be better utilized if they demonstrated against the real tyrants of this nation, 'too big to fail' CORPORATIONS & BANKS!!!

but they're so wrapped up in government conspiracies and the myth of a true 2 party democratic system. thus they are waisting valuable time and breath. i can only hope they learn to cock, aim, then shoot.
