The official trailer for Miley Cyrus' upcoming film The Last Song has been released today. The Last Song is based on Nicholas Sparks' novel of the same name.

Although Nicholas Sparks also penned The Notebook, MTV News has an interesting take on The Last Song, describing it as having "a What A Girl Wants vibe (paging: Amanda Bynes) to it as well. "

Could The Last Song be a break-out role for Miley Cyrus? The Hannah Montana star believes that this working on this film was a step towards maturity. "I feel like art really does imitate life. So just showing this movie, I feel like I'm really showing a part of my growth as a person as well. So I'm really excited for people to see it, just because of what it means to me, personally."

From The Last Song trailer, Miley Cyrus comes across as believable as a rebellious teenager who reconciles with her father through love of music.

It will be interesting to see whether or not she can come across as a mature actress. It will also be interesting to see how Disney Channel stars such as Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, and Selena Gomez make the transition into grown-up careers.

The Last Song will premier in April 2010.

ya its funny how they dont show the hick trying her hand at serious acting, all you hear is her 3 pack a day raspy cigarette annoying voice, and cutaways to her nasty ugly teeth and oh so average chipmunk face. The movie will tank miserably, the only ones who care are 9 year old girls, and i doubt they want to see a non-Hannah Montana "serious" Miley.
