The Saudi government, which is based on Islamic law, is stepping up its hunt for witches and black magicians. Their religious police have arrested a popular Lebanese psychic, Ali Sibat, and a Saudi court has sentenced him to death for practicing witchcraft, the Los Angles Times reports.
Another person who is on death row in Saudi Arabia for witchcraft is Fawza Falih. She's been on death row since 2006 because a man accused her of practicing witchcraft which caused his impotence!
On an Islamic Q&A site readers are taught that signs someone is possessed by an evil spirit/devil/jinn are: "Turning away and reacting strongly when hearing the adhaan or Qur’aan; Fainting, seizures and falling when Qur'aan is read over him; A lot of disturbing dreams; Being alone, keeping away from people and behaving strangely; The devil who is dwelling in him may speak when Qur'aan is read over him." These symptoms are very similar to the Christian take on this unreasonable superstition of demonic possession. Just substitute Bible for Qur'aan/Koran.
Islam and Christianity are both guilty of the nonsense of evil spirits and devils. In pre-revolutionary America when Christianity reigned supreme, at Williamsburg, Virginia, for example, there is on record an incident in which a woman, Grace White Sherwood, was accused of being a witch. To determine if she was really a witch the authorities decided a trial by water was necessary. In a trial by water, the accused is cross tied, right hand to left foot, left hand to right foot, and thrown into a lake or pond. If she sinks and drowns the unreasonable officials deem she was not a witch. If she survives she is guilty of being a witch! Grace White Sherwood somehow survived and was sentenced to prison for being a witch. Based on the Bible, the Virginia authorities were lenient with her since Exodus 22:18 clearly says, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." It was this superstition that brought about the Salem witch hunts and executions! Thank God for the American Revolution! (The Christians aren't even very good at their own superstition. For example, they've convinced everyone the mark of the devil/Satan is 666 when in reality according to their own earliest mythological writings it's 616!)
