Faith-healer Joe Daugherty has cancer and goes to hospital

Preachers like Joe Daugherty and Pat Robertson
encourage their followers to rely on the Bible
promises of faith-healing. However, when they
have health problems they go to the hospital!

Joe Daugherty, a Christian clergyman who preaches faith-healing right out of the Bible for his flock doesn't rely on it for himself. Joe is now in the hospital after being diagnosed with cancer.

Mr. Daugherty operates the Christian Victory Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In the Center's Statement of Faith is written, "We believe that deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement, and is the privilege of all believers." It then lists the following Bible passages to support this statement of faith in faith-healing: Isa. 53:4, Matt. 8:16-17, Mark 16:18, John 5:6-14, 1 Peter 2:24.

As the saying goes, the proofs in the pudding. If these Bible promises listed by Christian Victory Center were real Mr. Daugherty would not now be in the hospital suffering from lymphoma. And if he truly believed what he preaches to others, he would not be in the hospital, he would be having himself anointed with oil and prayed over by his fellow Christians as the Bible instructs. The same holds true for Pat Robertson who recently had 10 hours of heart surgery and is already back on the air pretending to be doing more faith-healings!

This hypocrisy on the part of these and other Christian clergymen would be funny if not for the children who die every year because their parents are taken in by these empty and deadly Bible superstitions. An adult is capable of making the decision to forgo the use of their God-given reason in favor of believing the Bible. However, a little child is not capable of making that decision and should be protected from such nonsense. When Christians see the clergymen who preach faith-healing going to the hospital themselves, it has to trigger the God-given reason in the Christians. Once enough sincere Christians realize that the Bible is not the word of God, this madness will stop.

It's so painfully obvious that you've never read any more of the Bible than you had to. Just enough to take something out of context and twist its meaning, just like any other uneducated moron

As cruel and heartless as you are in your writing, you're going to condemn a pastor? Let me he has nothing on you. Wonder if you were diagnosed with cancer how you would feel if someone responded to you so coldly. Nowhere in the Bible does it says we will have smooth sailing. Before you make comments in your ignorance, you need to know what you're talking about. Gee, dude you are one cold person.

Right on, Bob! Great article. I'm with you all the way. The bible is chock full of contradictions and inconsistencies, yet it's so embedded in the fabric of society that people can't free themselves from its grasp.

As a member of Victory Christian Center, I have never heard Pastor Billy Joe Daugherty tell us that we would never experience attacks such as cancer. He has always shared scriptures concerning struggles we might face in life, but then how we can overcome. Jesus tells us that thief comes to steal, kill and destroy but that he came to give us life more abundantly.(John 10:10) He also said in the world we would have tribulation, but to be of good cheer that He has overcome the world.(John 16:33)

As to your comment about children needing to be taken to the hospital when facing illness, Pastor Billy Joe has ALWAYS encouraged us as a congregation to pray for our children AND to allow God to use doctors, medicine and nutrition. Please understand that God will use many ways to bring His healing touch to people.

I have been healed of a crushed back, arthritis, torn muscles and more through prayer. I thank God often for the teaching I have received from Pastor Billy Joe Daugherty.

You might want to be as filled with grace in dealing with others as you want others to be when dealing with you in your time of need. Not sure what point you are trying to prove but it really seems as if you are acting more like the enemy than Christ. You might also want to check your facts before you write an article. Not sure if you are a professional journalist or not but getting the persons name wrong and their church name wrong really makes it appear as if you have not done your homework. This really discredits you and leads people to also believe that if you don't even know his name or the name of the church he pastors then you haven't done your homework on what he believes. Looks like you were just waiting for an opportunity to throw out your issues rather than really understanding what you are writing about.

Amazing, this man has cancer and some of you have no compassion whatsoevr. One day you very well might have cancer too. Instead, you use this terrible situation to express your unbelief about God. Couldn't you had done it in a more humane way - in a more proper forum or uner different circumstances? I dont care what you beleive or dont beleive, but you should at least show a little decency and respect, REGARDLESS what you beleive.

I love these people who are going straight for insulting the writer instead of seeing the proof in the pudding. This pastor is a hypocrite. So what if he is a pastor? He is equal to a regular joe under god's eye.

Good work for writing this. Unforuntantely, it won't prolly show these crazy radical Christians anything. But I appreciate it and i know the movement to prevent faith healing's murders appreciate it too

The writer in this case is just trying to gain some attention.

I go to Victory...and the picture this writer is trying to present is not what is being said in the church or by Pastor Billy Joe and Sharon.

Today Dodie Osteen spoke....she was miraculously healed 28 years ago from cancer. She was also being treated by a doctor IN A HOSPITAL. Anything is possible with Faith in God. Get on board you are missing out.

    God Bless Pastor Billy Joe!!!
