Faith-healing and children don't mix as the rise in
the number of children who die from the practice

Kent Schaible was a two year old boy with a full life ahead of him. What tragically cut the innocent and helpless boy's life short was his parent's mistaken belief that the Bible is the word of God. This mistaken belief lead them to accept that the promises in the Bible which claim Christians will be able to heal people through prayers was actually from God instead of originating, as it really did, with ancient and ignorant superstitious Jews.
The Philadelphia Daily News reports that Kent was infected with bacterial pneumonia for a week-and-a-half prior to his unnecessary death. He was so sick during that time that he was suffering from liquid bowel movements, a sore throat, congestion and sleeplessness. These symptoms would normally trigger a reasonable protective response from parents who would then rush their child to the hospital or the doctor's office where it could have been successfully treated and Kent would have lived. However, these natural responses are killed by belief in ancient superstitions which are taught in the Bible, superstitions such as "faith-healing".
Kent's misguided parents, Herbert and Catherine Schaible, were charged on October 8, 2009 with manslaughter in the completely preventable death of their son.
If people who are currently under the spell of the superstition based tales of the Bible are made aware that God gave us reason, not religion, then these avoidable tragedies that take the lives of helpless children will not happen. These parents really do seem to love their children and want what's best for them. They have sadly been misguided by tradition and clergy to believe it is more pleasing to God to follow what men have written, the Bible, than to follow their gift of reason which God has given them. Once this is clarified the children will be much safer and happier, as will the parents.

Whichever religion you believe in, you should see that God/Allah/Yahweh/etc, inspired these doctors and scientists to make these cures. As you said reason is what we were given. It is ridiculous that now in 2009 that religion is such a dominant ignorant force. It is pushed by politics even though church and state are suppose to be seperated, and enforced by crazy cult-like sects.
May God, Reason, and Common sense (even though it isn't common anymore) help this nation get out of this Dark Age superstitious mumbo jumbo. And no i am not knocking any faith, it just comes to a point where you have to accept truth.
