They're not as ubiquitous as Starbucks yet, but new yoga studios are opening up throughout the city to accomodate a growing interest in the yogi lifestyle. Past Tense is a brand new studio in Mt. Pleasant that offers a variety of class formats and levels, including:

  • Let it Flow, a vinyasa-style class offering a flowing, dynamic form of yoga that connects breath to movement
  • Strong Hold, an athletic, hatha-style class featuring static poses that builds strength, flexibility and endurance
  • Virgin Yoga, a class introducing students to the different styles of yoga
  • Happy Hour, a Friday afternoon energizing workout set to Top 40, Alternative hits or R&B.
All 60-minute classes are priced at $15 each, with discounts available for first-timers and multi-class packages.

Trained through the YogaFit, owner Kelly DiNardo has been teaching yoga at area gyms for more than six years. Instructors have a variety of experience levels. Some are certified through Yoga Alliance.

Past Tense is located at 3235 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, NW in Washington, DC, three blocks from the Columbia Heights Metro.
