D.C. police are investigating two homicides that occurred Friday evening.
The first, pictured above, happened in the 1200 block of Crittenden St NW in the Petworth Neighborhood. While investigating reports of the sounds of gunfire, police discovered a man with a gunshot wound to his head around 10:35 p.m. He was shot multiple times. Police identified him as 44-year-old Nathaniel C. Robinson of the 1200 block of Simms Place NE.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not provided a lookout or motive. This is eight blocks from Tuesday's brutal shooting, where a teen was also shot in the head in the Safeway parking lot.
About an hour after the Crittenden murder, a man in his 30's or 40's was found stabbed in the left side of his chest during an altercation at 55th and Ames Sts NE in the Grant Park Neighborhood. Police identified and arrested the suspect. He is 39-year-old Robert Saunders of no fixed address and has been charged with murder II while armed. This is less than a mile from the double shooting that left one man dead early Tuesday.
