Celebrate Dia de Los Muertos - Day of the Dead in Patagonia, AZ

Day of the DeadPatagonia, close to the Mexican border, is an ideal place to go for a Day of the Dead celebration. Here's what's in store:

Dia de los Muertos/Circle of Life Celebration

Global Arts Gallery; home to an inspired collection of treasures from around the corner and around the world, joyfully presents its 9th Annual Dia de los Muertos/Circle of Life Celebration.
Gala artist reception, feast, and altar building: Sunday November 1, 2009 12pm -5pm
Muertos Jewelry by Illaments and Muertos folk art and accessories from around the world.

Artist and Global Arts Gallery owner, Adrienne Halpert, comments; “Each breath is simultaneously a birth and a death. Our 9th annual Dia De Los Muertos/Circle of Life celebration and exhibit brings us together to experience the sacredness, humor, sorrow & joy that every moment bestows on us- Wakefulness diminishes fear, encourages adventure and makes me grateful for all that has come before and all that will be born on the next breath.”

Belief holds that Dia De Los Muertos is the one day a year that departed souls can return to earth. Traditionally on that day families prepare offerings to be placed at the grave or on an altar created in the home. In honor of this tradition, guests attending the November 1st reception are encouraged to bring disposable offerings; images, poems, prayers, sweets, candles and flowers to place on the gallery’s community altar in memory of there loved ones, both two and four legged, who now live in their heart.

Day of the Dead sounds so creepy, but it really isn't at all. Nice way to celebrate.
