Even after a severe rainstorm Cape Fear Botanical Gardens is such a beautiful place to visit. The trees and flowers overlooking the river, along with the sounds of nature is an adventure for every age to encounter year round.
Since its conception in 1989 the Cape Fear Botanical Gardens in Fayetteville, NC has aesthetically displayed the life of indigenous plants and wildlife. The garden covers 79 acres of pine and hardwood forest and displays more than 2,000 varieties of plants along with nature trails, ponds and waterways.
Experience the above, or take a stroll along the garden’s River Walk, Heritage Garden, or Children’s Garden. It’s a great place to visit as a group, or create a backdrop for wedding ceremonies whether in a winter wonderland or amid summer flowers. The pavilion offers shelter for picnics and other special events.
Guided tours are available for $6 (adults) $3 (students). General admission is $5 for adults and free for children (12 and under). Free admission is granted quarterly on the following dates: Sunday, May 3, 2009 (May Day Festival), Sunday, August 2, 2009 (Summer Fun in the Garden), and Sunday, November 1, 2009 (Fall into Color). During the month of April admission is free for all visitors courtesy of PWC (Public Works Commission). Hours of operation are Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m., and Sunday 12 p.m.- 5 p.m.
Cape Fear Botanical Gardens is located at 536 N. Eastern Blvd, near Fort Bragg, Pope Air Force Base and downtown Fayetteville. Fayetteville, NC is approximately 3 hours from Charlotte via 74 E.
