In the past decade, more and more men have come to embrace the spa as not simply a women’s pastime or luxury. The need to relax and de-stress, receive treatment for sports injuries, or grooming has become popular among many of Toronto’s professionals.
Toronto’s Elmwood Spa has created an entire men’s spa treatment line to draw in a larger male clientele. No frills or fancy treatments – just the essentials here – just the way men like it.
Located at Yonge & Elm in the downtown Toronto core, the spa has recently undergone a multi-million dollar renovation and now offers four luxurious floors including: two restaurants, a juice bar, change rooms with full facilities for men and women (steam room, whirlpool, showers, etc.), a water therapies area with hot and warm saltwater pools, and a boutique with specialized Elmwood products.
For men’s treatments, the Men’s Essential Facial (50 mins, $95) is a must to clean, smooth, and hydrate. The Elmline Essential MANicure (25 mins, $35) takes care of dry, splitting cuticles, trims and files nails and smoothes rough, dry hands.
Various options for massages include Swedish (50 mins, $98); Aromatherapy (50 mins, $108); Deep Tissue (50 mins, $107); and Hot Stone (75 mins, $160).
Last but not least, Elmwood’s signature treatments like a Siam Herbal Tension Release (80 mins, $170) utilizes methods used on 14th century Thai soldiers, using natural elements like coriander, nutmeg, and spices to exfoliate and relieve tension.
Best of all, the men's lounge includes a large flat-screen set on the day's sports game.
