As I wrote a few months ago, the word on the street was that David Cook had a girlfriend (a "cougar" at that), and that he was keeping his new love interest on the down low. The assumption was most likely that he had already been overexposed in his first public relationship with fellow Idol contestant, Kimberly Caldwell, and had thus decided to keep things private. But new scoop on the popular rocker implies that David might have kept it from his fans for fear of their disapproval. Star Magazine reported:
"David changed my life in so many good ways," Kim, 35, tells Star in an exclusive interview. "But I also can't forget my feeling of abandonment, when I was being slammed left and right. I've never had a man treat me as if he was ashamed to be associated with me!"
Kim and David, 26, became friends through MySpace in August 2008. They soon met face to face at David's hotel in New York City — and Kim spent the night. "People will draw their own conclusions, so let them," she tells Star. The couple grew close over a year's time and saw each other as often as their busy schedules would allow.
Their romance became public this past August after a New York newspaper ran an item about them. Shortly after, says Kim, "There was a big change in David's attitude!" And it wasn't long before he cut Kim loose in the face of his fans' apparent anger.
"I know David is a good person," says Kim. "I hope he gets to the point where pleasing his fans doesn't affect his happiness!"
What's worse is what the former model tells Star about how he broke things off, as he allegedly texted her, "Dude, I'm losing fans over this!"
What say you about this report? Of course, we've got to consider the source, Star, which hasn't always been known to shoot straight from the hip. And then this woman could also be lying. To boot, I truly do not want to believe that David would break things off that way, and for that reason. All that said (or rather, typed), he did certainly try and hide the relationship. On another note, I just have to ask based on the photo of her from the article, "REALLY!?" "No, really?" That's all I have to say about that.

I have a hard time believing he'd be involved with a chick like this and would a handle situation like that. But really, what do we know about his personal life and relationships?!? I'd like to think that he would have more class than that. To me she looks like a Lindsey Lohan wannabe. Either way - gross! I think his personal life is just that, personal. Why do we care who he date he is old enough to choice for himself. It is just sad that this person gave this personal interview for money. Everyone knows he doesnt want to discuss his personal life, give him this at least. He gives us his all when it comes to his music.
I think if you will go back and research when this story "broke" in August that her story didn't hold water. Seems to me she is after her 15 minutes at someone elses expense. Wonder what she got paid for this story?
This story is obviously fake. We just have to look at the facts. If we look back to when this was first reported by that New York source she contradicts herself a lot.

I don't believe this story for a minute. I have read it several different places and she contradicts herself. Why does she have to trash David. Hasn't he had a rough enough year? Lady, let it go. Let David be and leave him alone.
Truthfully I don't care who David dates. It's none of my business. I do have to wonder though why this woman would go tell her story to a tabloid, when she has to know that David is a very private person. I think this shows a total lack of class to go public about a so called relationship with a celebrity and said celebrity wanted it kept private. David is young and still learning how to navigate his celebrity status and I know he will figure it out. However, if this is true (and I have my doubts) it seems to me David could do better. The fact that this woman went to a tabloid leaves a real bad taste in my mouth. Personally I don't believe it, but if it is true it doesn't matter to me either way. David is an amazing singer and musician and he has a good heart. That trumps a lack of class any day of the week.
If you were a genuine journalist instead of a pathetic excuse for a blogger regurgitating tabloid tripe in an effort to look like you have a job, you'd have done some research. Two or three encounters with someone over the course of a year does not constitute a relationship as a girlfriend. This chick's fifteen minutes is nearly up--and is about ten minutes longer than yours. Shame on you for repeating this banal story in an effort to get hits.

I am a huge fan of David and yet I find this strangely funny... I think it like most stories is probably some truth with some fiction to make it interesting. I think Ms. Kim confused a booty call with a relationship. I wouldn't be surprised if he was involved with her in some way... but I think she thought there was much more to it than there was. Besides, the "I'm losing fans over this" bit is so false. This barely came out, and we fans that happened to read this, didn't believe in it anyway, so, final count of fans lost: zero!
Third: on this particular story you posted, it seems like she's saying she was with him while he was actually dating Kimberly Caldwell, and had the American Idol tour going on, AND the recording of his album, etc... Yeah, kudos for him for being able to juggle 2 relationships at the same time plus all the rest lol (was being sarcastic here for who didn't notice).

Marnie, disappointed in you for regurgitating this worthless story. DC has a ton of good things CURRENTLY going on in his life that people would probably really care about, like appearing on Carrie Underwood's Christmas special in Dec., or currently helping with an Extreme Home Makeover for a needy family in Indiana.
Whatever the story is here...consider the source. If not completely fabricated, probably only about 5% truth...and definitely he didn't consider this a "relationship." Finally...whatever he does and whoever he dates...it's no one's business. Including yours.

I don't pretend to know either of these people. I have been following DC's career. Several women have used relationships with him for self-promotion at his expense and this is just one more. It comes with the territory. The albatross of being an American Idol is that the fans think they have some ownership or investment in their Idol beyond the typical musician/fan relationship. That's the only reason this story resonates at all. If I had a dime for every musician who had sex with women and dumped them, I'd be retired in the Virgin Islands! Are we his fans because we like his music or because we have idealized him? Let the guy play his music and be human and imperfect (and he always did say he wasn't very good with relationships).

I find it very interesting how people / fans think they know David personally and well enough to know whom he should be with. I am in the industry, and if you have followed this story you would know Kim had nothing to do with the Post articles. That's how this all started. She did however have something to do with the Star article, and was trying to tell her side of the story. In her defense, it was a very well written article that did not talk poorly of David. I think people need to let David live his life and not judge him on who he dates or sleeps with. It sounds like they were good friends. I also think you should not jugde this girl. We don't know anything about her. If it is true and a guy/friend did this to me I would do the same thing. Nothing wrong with standing up for yourself. I am a DC fan though and hope he learns from this.
