Online dating community Zoosk.com recently asked its users what would happen next--would singles stick around for a second date with an unemployed person?
Not surprisingly, the sexes differed greatly on this question--almost 92 percent of men said that they would date a woman who is currently unemployed. Women, on the other hand, were about half-and-half, with 52 percent reporting that they would date a man if he said he is currently unemployed.
OK, I'll take your unemployment and raise you living with their parents. How does that rate among singles? A surprising 80 percent of respondents said that they would go on a date with someone who drives home to mom and dad at the end of a date. Again, men were a little more tolerant than women (85 percent versus 67% of them being OK with it).
The survey also asked about recession-busting dates. How would people feel about doing something for cheap, like a walk in the park or a visit to a museum on free Friday? Eighty-five percent of respondents state that they are “turned on” by a free activity and the idea that dating can be fun without spending money. A small percentage (11 percent of women and 17 percent of men) said that it does not feel like a “real date” to do something free.
So cheer up, you unemployed, home-dwelling, penny-pinching daters: you've got some patient, understanding people out there who want to get to know the real you, paycheck or no.

My full time US gov job pays 80K/yr. and my part time private sector sales job pays 5K. Got a COLA in Jan. 2009 and 2 performance pay raises in Mar. and Apr. I get another COLA in Jan. 2010. Also got a $1545 refund on my mortgage escrow and my house payment dropped $115 a month. My only debt is a reasonable mortgage payment. I have a house, 2 cars, 2 college degrees, divorced, with no kids or pets. Got a FICO score of over 800.
So who wants a date with a responsible single guy with a JOB…or two?
Not all of us are feeling the pinch.
