Dancing with the Stars headed into the finals Tuesday night, with the surprise elimination of model Joanna Krupa and her partner, the adorable Derek Hough.
“It’s been such an amazing experience,” said Krupa when the couple’s elimination was announced. “Thank you for giving me the opportunity.” In a departure from the show’s usual lame last dance, the couple actually performed their full Viennese Waltz from Monday’s performance show, ending on a high note.
Krupa’s elimination means that three couples will enter next week’s finals – My and Dmitry Chaplin, Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel and Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson. Both Osbourne and Osmond have scored lower than Krupa in most of Season 9’s performance shows, but Tuesday night reminded us all that judges’ scores and viewer votes can be two very different things. Yet equally important on DWTS.
To keep us all mystified or on the edge of our seats, co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris first brought the two highest scoring couples from Monday night, Mya and Chaplin, and Krupa and Hough, into the spotlight. Of those two, only Mya and Dmitry were declared safe.
Then, after a long stretch of guest performances and canned background videos, the two lowest scoring couples from Monday – Osbourne and Van Amstel and Osmond and Johnson – were trotted onstage. And – surprise! – Osmond and Johnson were declared safe, leaving Osbourne and Krupa hanging on for dear life. Osbourne, maybe. But Krupa, whose performances topped the leaderboard three times this season? Seriously? Beat out by Donny?
When Krupa/Hough and Osbourne/Van Amstel were trotted out again, the news was announced that Krupa/Hough were the couple with the lowest combined total, having to leave the show just one week shy of the finals.
The Results Show also featured a performance of “You Should Be Dancing” by the two remaining Bee Gee brothers, accompanied by pro dancers and Season 8’s third runner-up, a barefoot Melissa Rycroft.
And there was a Fosse-like dance performance from the star-studded film, “Nine,” which will be in theaters on Christmas Day. The number made me want to buy a ticket today.
Gorgeous crooner Alicia Keyes also performed her new single, “Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart,” and British singer Leona Lewis performed her breakout hit, “Happy.”
See you at the finals. I’ll be in Europe next week, but I hope to be able to weigh in and catch the show somewhere!

Tonight's results show was total bull***t. Kelly Osbourne should have gone home... she is the worst one out of those four remaining. I'm utterly disappointed in how America continues voting based on popularity and not on actual dancing ability. Joanna, you were robbed!
This is the first (and now the last) season I have watched this show. I cant believe how the judges coddled that spoiled brat Osbourne through out the entire show. Aaron Carter was a far better performer than her and I cant begin to understand how she outlasted Joanna Krupa.
As for Donnie Osmond, meh, his crap first dance should have gotten much lower scores than 7s, he should have gotten 5s.

I agree totally...JOANNA WAS ROBBED! I was sure that joanna would go 2 the finals! I think donny should have gone home, but definitely not joanna! I don't think I will watch it again next season! just because donny has been in show buisness all his life doesn't mean he was the better dancer! Its definitely anybodys game now...mya look out u might not win!
Jonna you were robbed. Kelly or Ozzy didnt deserve it. I watched the show bc I thought you were going to win. Oh well as least you are a hard working brautiful women as for the rest there is not much to say. Love you Joanna
Shocking result! Very disappointed! She should be in the Final instead of Kelly!
A total outrage is all I can see! I never thought this show was rigged, until now. Sending Joanna home and keeping Kelly is like putting a can of spam above cavier. We should have seen this coming when they sent Aaron home; he could actually dance. Now Joanna, who is truly a beautiful dancer. I don't understand how the votes could go terribly wrong...twice! I'm certain their voting system is corrupt. A real shame. A real joke, really!
Popularity contest - that's all we're talking here, folks! Sadly, America votes for their favorites - not who's the best performer. And this is certainly not the first competition show where America got it wrong (Taylor Hicks immediately comes to mind! Lol)
Is Ozzy sponsoring DWTS or what, or is a new Osbourne show in the works, cuz that's the only way I can imagine why Kelly made the finals. How do they calculate and "add" the judges' and audience voting totals anyway? Seems like they can do whatever they want to select the finalists... and probably do! Both Donny's and Kelly's scores from the judges were well below Joanna's - totally bogus result!
Joanna was so graceful and elegant - waaaaay more classy and talented than Kelly will ever be. Screw the finals - should be Mya, but you never know with this voting format! Serious BS tonight kids!

It took me several weeks to even care wwho was on the show!!! Who decided ashley and deleigh were stazs??? No the sham of Donny and Kelly as great dancers??? Plez I think I may have run my watching days for this show too.
