The eighth week of Dancing with the Stars ended with the elimination of dancing celebrity Aaron Carter and partner Karina Smirnoff, leaving four couples to head into next week’s semi-finals.

Pop star Carter, who had emotional highs and lows during Season 9, said, “One thing I will always remember are the lessons I’ve learned, so thank you for allowing me to grow on this show.”

Head judge Len Goodman complimented Carter for his dedication. “You are an inspiration to so many young people,” he said. Carter has been among the bottom two and three couples for a number of weeks on DWTS, and Examiner readers have predicted his ouster from the show in two separate polls here.

His elimination sends four couples – Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel, Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough, Mya and Dmitry Chaplin, and Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson – heading into the final two weeks of the competition.

The first couple declared safe Tuesday were Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough, who clearly blew away the viewers and voters with their cool futuristic paso doble on Monday night’s performance show. The dance was also chosen as the judges’ pick for a repeat performance on the Results Show.

The second couple declared safe were Mya and Dmitry Chaplin, who received Monday’s top judges’ scores, including a perfect 30 for their Latin dance, and  who have been consistently strong throughout Season 9.

The next couple declared safe were Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson, leaving Carter and Osbourne left in the spotlight and expecting the worst.

The Design a Dance performance -- in which the audience got to pick a celebrity, dance, music, costume and pro partner – ended up being a sexy and fearless paso doble danced by Sabrina Bryan, who was reunited with her former partner Mark Ballas. Both wore tiger striped costumes designed by a viewer and appropriately danced to the song, “Eye of the Tiger.”

Crooner Michael Buble sang his hits “You Know How I Feel” and “Haven’t Met You Yet” while Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Jonathan Roberts, Cheryl Burke, Anna Trebunskaya and other pros danced.

Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle performed “I Dreamed a Dream,” the number that made her famous on “Britain’s Got Talent,” as Tony Dovolani and Chelsie Hightower performed a breathtaking dance. Goosebumps, anyone?

The show was also sprinkled with humorous DanceCenter segments featuring Kenny Manes, Jerry Rice and Len Goodman.

Sabrina Bryan and Mark Ballas was my favorite part of the segment. Watching that over and over can't get enough of those two dancing. HOT
